Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 4 cups fresh broccoli florets
- 2–3 cloves garlic, minced
- ¼ cup soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free)
- 2 tbsp brown sugar or honey
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- ¼ cup water or beef broth
- Optional add-ins: 1 tsp fresh grated ginger, ½ tsp red pepper flakes, 2 tbsp chopped green onions, 1 tsp sesame seeds
Instructions
- In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, brown sugar or honey, water or broth, sesame oil, and cornstarch. Set aside.
- In a large skillet or wok, cook ground beef over medium-high heat until browned and cooked through. Drain excess fat if needed.
- Add garlic (and ginger, if using) and sauté for 1 minute until fragrant.
- Add broccoli and a splash of water. Cover and steam for 3–4 minutes until broccoli is bright green and slightly tender.
- Pour in the sauce, stir to combine, and cook for 2–3 more minutes until thickened and everything is evenly coated.
- Garnish with green onions, sesame seeds, or extra sesame oil, if desired.
Notes
- Substitute ground turkey or chicken for a lighter version.
- Use frozen broccoli (thawed) for convenience—just reduce steam time.
- Double the sauce if serving over rice or noodles.
- Add bell peppers or snap peas for extra crunch and variety.
- For spice, add sriracha or red pepper flakes.
