Ingredients
- 2 pears, sliced into wedges
- 5 cups mixed salad greens
- 1/2 cup crumbled blue cheese
- 1/2 cup walnuts or pecans
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
- Slice the pears into wedges and remove the cores.
- Heat butter in a skillet over medium heat and add the pear slices.
- Drizzle honey over the pears and cook until golden and caramelized on both sides.
- Remove the pears from the skillet and allow them to cool slightly.
- In a small bowl, whisk together olive oil, balsamic vinegar, Dijon mustard, salt, and black pepper to create the dressing.
- Place the mixed greens into a large serving bowl.
- Top the greens with caramelized pears, crumbled blue cheese, and walnuts or pecans.
- Drizzle the dressing over the salad and toss gently before serving.
Notes
- Bosc or Anjou pears work best because they hold their shape while caramelizing.
- Goat cheese or feta can replace blue cheese for a milder flavor.
- Dried cranberries or pomegranate seeds add extra sweetness and color.
- Candied pecans provide additional crunch and richness.
- Keep the dressing separate until serving to maintain crisp greens.
