Ingredients

  • 1 wheel of brie cheese (8 oz or 16 oz)
  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • Optional: 2–3 tablespoons fruit preserves (apricot, raspberry, or fig)
  • Optional: 1–2 tablespoons honey
  • Optional: 2 tablespoons chopped nuts (pecans, walnuts, or almonds)
  • Optional: Fresh herbs (such as thyme or rosemary)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the puff pastry slightly to smooth and thin it.
  3. Place the brie in the center of the pastry. Add jam, honey, nuts, or herbs on top if using.
  4. Fold the pastry up and over the brie, sealing the edges at the top. Trim excess pastry and pinch seams to close tightly.
  5. Whisk the egg and brush it over the pastry for a glossy finish.
  6. Place the wrapped brie seam-side up or down on the baking sheet.
  7. Bake for 20–25 minutes until the pastry is puffed and golden brown.
  8. Let rest for 5–10 minutes before serving to allow cheese to set slightly.

Notes

  • Decorate with pastry cutouts (leaves, stars) for a festive presentation.
  • Drizzle with balsamic glaze after baking for added flavor.
  • Leave the rind on the brie—it’s edible and helps the cheese hold shape.
  • Serve with crackers, baguette slices, apples, or grapes.
  • Best served fresh, but leftovers can be reheated in the oven.
