Ingredients
- 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
- 1/4 cup strawberry jam or preserves
- 2–3 tbsp granulated sugar
- Optional: 2 tbsp finely chopped fresh strawberries
- Optional: 1/2 tsp lemon zest or vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- On a lightly floured surface, roll out the puff pastry into a rectangle.
- Spread a thin layer of strawberry jam evenly over the surface, leaving a small border around the edges. Add optional chopped strawberries, lemon zest, or vanilla extract if using.
- Sprinkle 1 tbsp of sugar over the jam layer.
- Fold the long sides of the pastry inward toward the center, then fold again so both sides meet in the middle. Fold one side over the other like a book to form a log.
- Chill the log in the fridge for 10–15 minutes for easier slicing.
- Slice into 1/2-inch pieces and place cut-side up on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them apart.
- Sprinkle the tops with remaining sugar.
- Bake for 12–15 minutes, flipping halfway if desired, until golden and crisp.
- Let cool completely before serving.
Notes
- Chilling the log before slicing helps maintain the shape.
- Flip halfway through baking for even browning on both sides.
- Try raspberry or apricot preserves for variation.
- Add a cream cheese layer before the jam for a richer treat.
- Dip cooled edges in melted white chocolate for a decorative finish.
