Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil or melted butter
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract or lemon extract
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar (for coating)
  • Food coloring (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F) and line a baking tray with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, mix sugar, eggs, oil or melted butter, and extract until smooth.
  4. Combine wet and dry ingredients to form a soft dough.
  5. If desired, divide dough and mix in food coloring.
  6. Scoop dough into small balls and roll generously in powdered sugar.
  7. Place on baking tray, spacing apart.
  8. Bake for 10–12 minutes until crinkled and set.
  9. Cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • Coat heavily in powdered sugar for best crinkle effect.
  • Do not overmix the dough.
  • Chill dough if too sticky to handle.
