Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 pound ground beef
- (Additional ingredients typically include sliced bell peppers, onions, cream cheese or provolone/cheddar, pasta, milk or cream, and seasonings — see recipe card for full details)
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon. Drain excess fat if necessary.
- Add sliced bell peppers and onions; sauté until tender and caramelized.
- Meanwhile, cook pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- In the skillet, stir in cream cheese or a mix of cheeses with a splash of milk or cream to create a creamy sauce.
- Add cooked pasta to the skillet; toss to combine and heat through.
- Season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and Worcestershire sauce if desired.
- Serve hot, garnished with extra cheese or chopped parsley if preferred.
Notes
- Add mushrooms or jalapeños for texture and heat.
- Substitute sliced steak for ground beef to mimic traditional cheesesteak.
- For vegetarian, use sautéed mushrooms and extra cheese.
- Use penne, rigatoni, or elbow macaroni as pasta alternatives.
