Ingredients
- 8–10 fresh mint leaves
- 1 oz fresh lime juice
- 2 oz white rum
- 1–2 tsp granulated sugar or 1/2 oz simple syrup
- Soda water (club soda or sparkling water)
- Ice cubes
- Lime wedge and mint sprig (for garnish)
Instructions
- In a sturdy glass, add mint leaves and sugar (or simple syrup).
- Gently muddle the mint to release its oils without tearing the leaves.
- Add fresh lime juice and stir to dissolve the sugar.
- Pour in white rum and stir again.
- Fill the glass with ice and top with soda water.
- Stir gently and garnish with a mint sprig and lime wedge. Serve immediately.
Notes
- Use simple syrup for a smoother texture and quicker mixing.
- Gently muddle the mint to avoid bitterness from over-crushing.
- Use fresh lime juice for the best flavor—bottled juice works only in a pinch.
- Try coconut rum or fruit like strawberries or raspberries for a fun twist.
- Skip the rum and add extra soda water or lemon-lime soda for a non-alcoholic version.
