Ingredients

  • 12 lasagna noodles
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 lb Italian sausage
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 4 cups marinara sauce
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
  • 15 oz ricotta cheese
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook the lasagna noodles according to package directions, drain, and set aside.
  3. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the diced onion and cook until softened.
  4. Add the garlic, ground beef, and Italian sausage. Cook until browned and fully cooked, breaking up the meat.
  5. Season with salt, black pepper, and Italian seasoning. Stir in the marinara sauce and simmer for 5–10 minutes.
  6. In a bowl, mix ricotta cheese, cream cheese, sour cream, egg, and parmesan cheese until smooth.
  7. Spread a thin layer of meat sauce in the bottom of a greased baking dish.
  8. Layer lasagna noodles, creamy cheese mixture, meat sauce, and mozzarella cheese.
  9. Repeat layers until ingredients are used, finishing with mozzarella cheese on top.
  10. Cover with foil and bake for 35 minutes.
  11. Remove foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes until bubbly and lightly golden.
  12. Let rest for at least 15 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • Letting the lasagna rest helps the layers set cleanly.
  • Spinach or mushrooms can be added for extra texture.
  • Can be assembled a day ahead and baked when needed.
  • Freezes well both baked and unbaked.
