Ingredients
- 12 lasagna noodles
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1/2 lb Italian sausage
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 4 cups marinara sauce
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 1/2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
- 15 oz ricotta cheese
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1 large egg
- 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
- 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Cook the lasagna noodles according to package directions, drain, and set aside.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the diced onion and cook until softened.
- Add the garlic, ground beef, and Italian sausage. Cook until browned and fully cooked, breaking up the meat.
- Season with salt, black pepper, and Italian seasoning. Stir in the marinara sauce and simmer for 5–10 minutes.
- In a bowl, mix ricotta cheese, cream cheese, sour cream, egg, and parmesan cheese until smooth.
- Spread a thin layer of meat sauce in the bottom of a greased baking dish.
- Layer lasagna noodles, creamy cheese mixture, meat sauce, and mozzarella cheese.
- Repeat layers until ingredients are used, finishing with mozzarella cheese on top.
- Cover with foil and bake for 35 minutes.
- Remove foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes until bubbly and lightly golden.
- Let rest for at least 15 minutes before slicing and serving.
Notes
- Letting the lasagna rest helps the layers set cleanly.
- Spinach or mushrooms can be added for extra texture.
- Can be assembled a day ahead and baked when needed.
- Freezes well both baked and unbaked.
