Ingredients

  • 6 fresh apples (Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, or Fuji)
  • 1 (14 oz) bag caramel candies
  • 2 tbsp heavy cream or milk
  • 6 wooden sticks (popsicle or craft sticks)
  • 1 tsp butter (for greasing parchment)
  • Optional toppings: chopped nuts, crushed cookies, mini chocolate chips, sprinkles, shredded coconut, melted chocolate (for drizzling)

Instructions

  1. Wash and thoroughly dry the apples to remove any wax coating.
  2. Insert a wooden stick into the top of each apple.
  3. In a medium saucepan over low heat, melt the caramel candies with cream or milk, stirring constantly until smooth.
  4. Tilt the saucepan and dip each apple, swirling to coat evenly.
  5. Let excess caramel drip off, then immediately add toppings while caramel is still soft.
  6. Place the apples on a buttered parchment-lined tray to set for 30–40 minutes at room temperature or chill in the refrigerator for quicker setting.

Notes

  • Use chilled apples for better caramel adhesion.
  • Add a pinch of sea salt or cinnamon to caramel for extra flavor.
  • Drizzle with melted chocolate for a gourmet twist.
  • Wrap individually in parchment for gift-giving or storage.
  • Mini caramel apple bites are great for parties.
