Ingredients

  • 3 English muffins, split in half (6 halves)
  • 1/2 cup pizza sauce or marinara sauce
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 12 tbsp olive oil or butter (optional, for brushing)
  • Toppings of choice (e.g., pepperoni, olives, mushrooms, bell peppers, cooked sausage)
  • 1/2 tsp dried oregano or Italian seasoning
  • Grated Parmesan cheese (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Place the English muffin halves cut side up on the prepared baking sheet. Brush lightly with olive oil or butter if desired.
  3. Spoon pizza sauce onto each muffin half, spreading it evenly.
  4. Sprinkle a generous layer of shredded mozzarella cheese over the sauce.
  5. Add your favorite toppings and finish with a pinch of dried oregano or Italian seasoning.
  6. Bake for 10–12 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden and the edges of the muffins are toasted.
  7. Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • Use whole wheat or multigrain English muffins for a heartier base.
  • For a white pizza version, skip the tomato sauce and use olive oil, garlic, ricotta, and spinach.
  • Swap in pesto or BBQ sauce instead of pizza sauce for a flavor twist.
  • Mix different cheeses like provolone, cheddar, or feta for added flavor.
  • Toast the muffin halves lightly before adding toppings to keep them from getting soggy.
