Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon ketchup (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon mustard (optional)
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 can crescent roll dough or pizza dough
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 1 clove garlic, minced (or 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder)
  • Optional: sesame seeds, chopped pickles, or green onions for topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease or line a baking sheet.
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef and onion until beef is browned. Season with salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Stir in ketchup and mustard if using. Let the mixture cool slightly.
  3. Unroll dough onto a lightly floured surface. Spread beef mixture evenly over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges.
  4. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over the beef mixture.
  5. Roll the dough tightly into a log and slice into 8–10 pieces, about 1–1.5 inches thick.
  6. Place rollups cut side up on the prepared baking sheet.
  7. Mix melted butter with garlic and brush over the tops of the rollups.
  8. Bake for 15–18 minutes or until golden brown.
  9. Optional: Sprinkle with sesame seeds, chopped pickles, or green onions after baking.

Notes

  • Let the beef mixture cool before rolling to prevent soggy dough.
  • Use pizza dough for a chewier texture, or crescent dough for a flakier result.
  • Chilling the roll before slicing helps with cleaner cuts.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container and reheat in the oven or air fryer to maintain crispness.
  • Great served with burger sauce, ketchup, or ranch for dipping.
