Ingredients

  • 1 bag (20 oz) frozen French fries
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • ¼ cup ketchup
  • 1 tbsp yellow mustard
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • 1½ cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • ½ cup chopped dill pickles
  • Optional: diced tomatoes or chopped green onions for topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef and chopped onion until browned. Drain excess fat.
  3. Add garlic, ketchup, mustard, salt, and pepper to the beef. Stir and simmer for 2–3 minutes.
  4. Transfer the beef mixture to a greased baking dish and spread evenly.
  5. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over the beef layer.
  6. Top with frozen French fries in an even layer.
  7. Bake uncovered for 25–30 minutes, or until the fries are golden and crispy.
  8. Remove from oven and top with chopped dill pickles and optional toppings before serving.

Notes

  • Use ground turkey or plant-based meat for a lighter version.
  • Swap fries with waffle fries, curly fries, or tater tots for variety.
  • Add jalapeños or hot sauce for a spicy kick.
  • Top with shredded lettuce and tomatoes after baking for a cheeseburger salad feel.
  • Reheat in the oven for crispy fries or microwave for quick leftovers.
