Ingredients
- 2 ripe but firm pears (such as Bosc or Anjou), halved and cored
- 2 tbsp butter
- 2 tbsp brown sugar or coconut sugar
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup chopped pistachios
- 1/4 cup caramel sauce (homemade or store-bought)
- Pinch of sea salt (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Halve and core the pears, then place them cut-side up in a baking dish.
- In a small bowl, melt butter and mix with brown sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla.
- Spoon the butter mixture over each pear, letting it fill the centers.
- Bake uncovered for 25–30 minutes, basting once or twice with the juices, until soft and golden but still holding shape.
- Remove from oven and drizzle with warm caramel sauce. Sprinkle with chopped pistachios and a pinch of sea salt, if desired.
- Serve warm.
Notes
- Add a dollop of mascarpone, ricotta, or Greek yogurt after baking for creaminess.
- Enhance the flavor with a splash of bourbon or maple syrup in the butter mixture.
- Substitute pistachios with pecans, almonds, or walnuts if preferred.
- Top with crushed amaretti or granola for added crunch.
