Binangkal, Filipino Sesame Bread Balls, are a delightful snack that combines chewy bread with the nutty flavor of sesame seeds. Crisp on the outside and soft on the inside, these golden treats are easy to make and perfect for sharing with family and friends. A delicious, quick-to-make snack that pairs perfectly with coffee or as a dessert.
1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
¾ cup powdered milk
1 tbsp baking powder
1 tbsp cooking oil or melted butter
⅓ cup sugar
1 egg
¼ cup evaporated or fresh milk
½ cup sesame seeds
In a bowl, combine the flour, powdered milk, sugar, and baking powder. Mix well until evenly incorporated.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, melted butter (or oil), and egg until smooth.
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until a soft, slightly sticky dough forms.
Scoop a tablespoon-sized portion of dough and roll it into a ball. Coat the dough ball evenly in sesame seeds.
Heat oil in a pan over medium heat for deep frying. Once hot, carefully drop the dough balls into the oil.
Fry the Binangkal for 3-4 minutes or until golden brown, turning to cook on all sides.
Remove from oil and drain on paper towels.
Add vanilla extract or cinnamon to the dough for a unique flavor twist.
Substitute whole wheat flour for a healthier version with added fiber.
Sprinkle powdered sugar on top for extra sweetness after frying.
