Ingredients
- 1 lb frozen or fresh french fries
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp onion powder
- 1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
- 4 slices American cheese
- 1/4 cup pickles, chopped
- 1/2 cup tomato, diced
- 1/4 cup red onion, finely chopped
- 1/2 cup lettuce, shredded
- 2 tbsp ketchup
- 1 tbsp mustard
- 2 tbsp mayonnaise
Instructions
- Prepare the french fries according to package instructions or bake them in the oven until golden and crispy.
- While the fries cook, heat a skillet over medium-high heat and add the ground beef.
- Press the beef into the skillet so it cooks like a smash burger and develops a browned crust.
- Season with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder while cooking.
- Once fully cooked and slightly crispy, break the beef into small pieces and set aside.
- Place the hot fries on a large serving plate or tray.
- Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over the fries so it begins to melt.
- Add the cooked smash burger beef evenly over the fries.
- Tear the American cheese slices into pieces and place them on top so they melt from the heat.
- Top with chopped pickles, diced tomato, red onion, and shredded lettuce.
- Drizzle ketchup, mustard, and mayonnaise over the loaded fries before serving.
Notes
- Thick-cut or crinkle-cut fries work best because they hold toppings well.
- Pepper jack cheese can replace cheddar for a spicy twist.
- Add jalapeños or spicy sauce for extra heat.
- Caramelized onions or a fried egg can add extra richness.
- Serve immediately to keep the fries crispy.
