Ingredients

  • 3 ripe bananas, mashed
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking pan with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the mashed bananas and melted butter, stirring until smooth.
  3. Add the granulated sugar and brown sugar and mix well until combined.
  4. Beat in the eggs and vanilla extract until the mixture becomes creamy.
  5. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon.
  6. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the banana mixture and stir gently until just combined.
  7. Fold in the chopped walnuts or pecans if using.
  8. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly.
  9. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out mostly clean.
  10. Allow the brownies to cool completely before slicing into squares and serving.

Notes

  • Very ripe bananas with brown spots provide the best flavor and sweetness.
  • Chocolate chips can be added for a richer dessert-style version.
  • Swirl peanut butter into the batter before baking for extra flavor.
  • For a sweeter finish, drizzle a simple vanilla or cream cheese glaze over the cooled brownies.
  • Frozen bananas can be used; thaw them first and drain excess liquid.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days or refrigerate for up to 5 days.
