Ingredients
- 3 ripe bananas, mashed
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking pan with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the mashed bananas and melted butter, stirring until smooth.
- Add the granulated sugar and brown sugar and mix well until combined.
- Beat in the eggs and vanilla extract until the mixture becomes creamy.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the banana mixture and stir gently until just combined.
- Fold in the chopped walnuts or pecans if using.
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly.
- Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out mostly clean.
- Allow the brownies to cool completely before slicing into squares and serving.
Notes
- Very ripe bananas with brown spots provide the best flavor and sweetness.
- Chocolate chips can be added for a richer dessert-style version.
- Swirl peanut butter into the batter before baking for extra flavor.
- For a sweeter finish, drizzle a simple vanilla or cream cheese glaze over the cooled brownies.
- Frozen bananas can be used; thaw them first and drain excess liquid.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days or refrigerate for up to 5 days.
