Ingredients
- 2 sheets puff pastry, thawed
- 2 cups apples, peeled and diced (e.g., Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 egg
- 1 tablespoon water (for egg wash)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a saucepan over medium heat, cook diced apples with sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, cornstarch, and lemon juice until the mixture thickens and apples are tender. Let cool slightly.
- Cut puff pastry sheets into squares. Spoon a bit of apple filling into the center of each square and fold over into triangles.
- Seal edges with a fork and place on prepared baking sheet.
- Whisk egg with water and brush over the turnovers for a golden finish.
- Bake for 20–25 minutes until puffed and golden brown.
- Let cool slightly before serving. Optional: dust with powdered sugar or drizzle with glaze.
