  • 1 baguette, sliced into 20 rounds
  • 46 oz sharp white cheddar cheese, sliced
  • 1 fresh apple (such as Honeycrisp or Granny Smith), thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 12 teaspoons honey (optional, for drizzling)
  • 1 teaspoon fresh thyme leaves (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Arrange baguette slices on a baking sheet and brush lightly with olive oil.
  3. Toast in the oven for 5–7 minutes until golden and crisp.
  4. Top each toast with a slice of cheddar and return to the oven for 2–3 minutes, until the cheese starts to melt.
  5. Remove from oven and top each with a thin slice of apple.
  6. Drizzle with honey and sprinkle with thyme if using. Serve warm or at room temperature.

Notes

  • Use lemon juice on apple slices to prevent browning if prepping ahead.
  • Swap cheddar for brie, blue cheese, or goat cheese for variety.
  • Add jalapeño slices or red pepper flakes for a spicy twist.
  • Substitute apple with pear for a seasonal variation; add walnuts for crunch.
  • Use gluten-free baguette or crackers for a gluten-free version.
