Ingredients
- 1 baguette, sliced into 20 rounds
- 4–6 oz sharp white cheddar cheese, sliced
- 1 fresh apple (such as Honeycrisp or Granny Smith), thinly sliced
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1–2 teaspoons honey (optional, for drizzling)
- 1 teaspoon fresh thyme leaves (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Arrange baguette slices on a baking sheet and brush lightly with olive oil.
- Toast in the oven for 5–7 minutes until golden and crisp.
- Top each toast with a slice of cheddar and return to the oven for 2–3 minutes, until the cheese starts to melt.
- Remove from oven and top each with a thin slice of apple.
- Drizzle with honey and sprinkle with thyme if using. Serve warm or at room temperature.
Notes
- Use lemon juice on apple slices to prevent browning if prepping ahead.
- Swap cheddar for brie, blue cheese, or goat cheese for variety.
- Add jalapeño slices or red pepper flakes for a spicy twist.
- Substitute apple with pear for a seasonal variation; add walnuts for crunch.
- Use gluten-free baguette or crackers for a gluten-free version.
