Angie’s Perfect Dinner Rolls are soft, buttery, and irresistibly fluffy—everything you crave in a homemade roll. With a touch of sweetness and melt-in-your-mouth texture, these rolls are the ideal addition to any meal. For the Rolls:
2 ½ cups warm milk
4 teaspoons active dry yeast
½ cup white sugar
½ cup butter, softened
2 eggs
2 teaspoons salt
7 cups all-purpose flour (or as needed)
For Drizzling:
½ cup butter, melted
Activate the yeast: In a large bowl, pour warm milk and sprinkle the active dry yeast over it. Let it rest for 5 minutes to activate the yeast.
Mix the dough: Beat in the sugar, softened butter, eggs, and salt. Gradually stir in the flour until a soft dough forms.
First rise: Cover the bowl with a clean kitchen towel and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, until it doubles in size.
Punch down and rise again: Punch down the dough, cover, and let it rise two more times, each for about 1 hour.
Form the rolls: Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish. Break off 2-3 inch pieces of dough, shape them into round balls, and place them in the dish, edges touching. Repeat until you have 36 dough balls.
Second rise: Cover the dish with a towel and let the dough rise for an hour until doubled in size.
Preheat and bake: Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Bake the rolls for 10-15 minutes, until golden brown on top.
Butter and serve: Remove from the oven and immediately drizzle with melted butter. Serve warm!
Garlic butter rolls: Add garlic powder and Italian seasoning to the melted butter for a garlic bread twist.
Herb rolls: Mix fresh rosemary or thyme into the dough before the first rise for an aromatic touch.
