Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs or crushed crackers
  • 1/2 onion, diced
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 cups mashed potatoes or cooked egg noodles
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheese (optional)
  • Chopped fresh parsley, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix ground beef, egg, breadcrumbs, diced onion, garlic powder, salt, and pepper until just combined.
  3. Form into flat patties or press mixture into a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together cream of mushroom soup, milk, and Worcestershire sauce until smooth.
  5. Pour sauce over the beef patties or layer in the baking dish.
  6. Cover with foil and bake for 35–40 minutes, or until beef is fully cooked and sauce is bubbling.
  7. If using mashed potatoes, spread them on top during the last 10 minutes of baking and sprinkle with cheese if desired. Return to oven uncovered.
  8. Garnish with chopped parsley and serve hot.

Notes

  • Use ground turkey or chicken as a leaner alternative.
  • Add sliced mushrooms or green beans for extra vegetables.
  • Homemade cream sauce can replace canned soup if desired.
  • Serve over rice for a different base instead of potatoes or noodles.
  • Leftovers freeze well and reheat easily.
