Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 egg
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs or crushed crackers
- 1/2 onion, diced
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 2 cups mashed potatoes or cooked egg noodles
- 1/2 cup shredded cheese (optional)
- Chopped fresh parsley, for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a bowl, mix ground beef, egg, breadcrumbs, diced onion, garlic powder, salt, and pepper until just combined.
- Form into flat patties or press mixture into a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together cream of mushroom soup, milk, and Worcestershire sauce until smooth.
- Pour sauce over the beef patties or layer in the baking dish.
- Cover with foil and bake for 35–40 minutes, or until beef is fully cooked and sauce is bubbling.
- If using mashed potatoes, spread them on top during the last 10 minutes of baking and sprinkle with cheese if desired. Return to oven uncovered.
- Garnish with chopped parsley and serve hot.
Notes
- Use ground turkey or chicken as a leaner alternative.
- Add sliced mushrooms or green beans for extra vegetables.
- Homemade cream sauce can replace canned soup if desired.
- Serve over rice for a different base instead of potatoes or noodles.
- Leftovers freeze well and reheat easily.
