Ingredients
- 3 large apples, peeled and sliced into wedges
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs, beaten
- 1 cup breadcrumbs (plain or panko)
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg (optional)
- Cooking spray
- Optional dipping sauce:
- 1/2 cup caramel sauce or vanilla yogurt
Instructions
- Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for 3 minutes.
- Prepare three bowls: one with flour, one with beaten eggs, and one with breadcrumbs mixed with sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
- Dredge each apple slice in flour, dip into egg, then coat in the breadcrumb mixture.
- Arrange coated apple slices in a single layer in the air fryer basket and lightly spray with cooking spray.
- Cook for 8–10 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden and crisp.
- Let cool slightly and serve with caramel sauce or yogurt if desired.
Notes
- Use firm apples like Granny Smith or Honeycrisp for best texture.
- Skip breading and toss apples in cinnamon sugar for a lighter version.
- Crushed graham crackers can replace breadcrumbs for a sweeter coating.
- Reheat in the air fryer to restore crispness.
- Adjust sugar to taste depending on apple sweetness.
